General jobs to do in Fabulous February!

  • Cut back ivy on walls
  • Clematis flowering late Spring/early summer need to be pruned now
  • Remove all thin and overcrowded stems
  • Grow perennials such as Achilleas, Agastache, Aquilegias, Delphiniums, Dianthus, Echinacea, Gauras, Hollyhocks, Nepeta, Lavender, primulas, Salvia, Scabious, Penstemon and Rudbeckia from seed. Put in a propagator.

  • Force spring bulbs for early colour
  • Force rhubarb
  • Prune greenhouse climbers
  • Sow half hardy annuals inside
  • Order a dozen of chosen seed potatoes; leave to chit in a seed tray right through the summer (put them out the last day of August)
  • Take hardwood cuttings
