FRUIT & VEG

If necessary, spray raspberries with fungicide
Plant maincrop potatoes (planted without being chitted)

PLANTS

Take conifer cuttings; put pots in a shaded coldframe
Cut Salvia (sage) stems by half (6 inches at ground level) to bare wood
Trim Salvia each Spring for a neat crown.
Cut back last years Verbena bonariensis stems to a low framework. Any new shoots, cut near the base.
Trim lavender mid Spring, rather than Autumn (to prevent winter cold damage). Don’t cut lavender down to bare wood.
Cut back Prune all last years stems back to just above new growth at the base.
If not required, dig out bluebells by hand
Plant evergreen hedging and shrubs
Prune back the oldest shoots of Lavender and Santolina
