FRUIT & VEG
- Water container grown fruit trees and bushes
- Net fruit crops to reduce bird damage. Remove once flowering starts.
- Reduce the number of side shoots on grape vines
- Remove any badly placed shoots before wall trained figs break into leaf.
- Select and sow vegetable seeds.
- Plant asparagus. Choose a sunny sheltered spot (double dig on heavier soils)
- Plant potatoes on Good Friday,
- Second early potatoes can go in early April. Early potatoes are ready in 13 weeks.
- For the vegetable plot; prepare the soil. Sow carrots, beetroot, cauliflower, broad beans and cabbages. Deter carrot fly, covering with horticultural fleece.
- Sow a few lettuces every 2 weeks for a continuous supply.
PLANTS
- Ensure supports for Clematis; check supports on walls and fences, then tie in new shoots.
- Feed shrubs and roses with bone meal.
TASK LIST
