FRUIT & VEG
- Rhubarb; Use a large bucket to put over the crown to force it
- Prune raspberries; Cut canes of autumn fruiting varieties at the base. For summer fruiting; cut older canes, tie in young canes to horizontal wires
- Clear the veg plot; remove sprouts and cabbages and put them on the compost heap.
- Put well rotted mulch around the base of currants, raspberries and gooseberries to conserve and prevent weeds.
PLANTS
- Pinch out tips of Geraniums and Fuschias to encourage growth.
- Plant Sarcococca; in either a fully or partially shaded spot. They can also tolerate full sun if the ground is moist in summer, preferring fertile soil.
TASK LIST
Turn the compost heap again
Turf can be stripped off with a spade
Gather up canes and supports and put away in the shed. Planting can take place in Spring.
Dig over empty areas, leave exposed for soil pests to be eaten by birds.
